Sympathy Gifts

The daughter of my friend died and I want to do something in recognition of his. I looked at the flowers, but was told by a friend that in his experience as a member of the bereaved family that you get a lot of those and many have been redonated or discarded.

What would be another good idea of just, I show care? I envisage a fruit basket well, but there other creative ideas? I had the idea to donate money to the family, but I'm not sure my friend would be comfortable with that.

How old was the girl? If she was young, I would say something like a beautiful angel ornament or other knicknack angels to help your friend remember her daughter. Or maybe a cat or dog is having a hot to hold and cuddle ...
