Save The Date Cards

Posted on March 4, 2010.
Save The Date CardsWhen the cards are necessary Save Date?

I always thought you had to send save the date cards under two circumstances:
1. Many of your customers are Towners
2. Getting married on a weekend (or a busy weekend as the weekend before Christmas, etc..)

I do not fit one of these categories (95% local and not a busy weekend for everyone), but people have asked when I send cards to save the day. I do not foresee, but now I am second guessing myself.

Any ideas on the rules of Save the Date cards?

We fell to # 2 - were married on December 22, so it was absolutely necessary for us to send them.

I think they are becoming more common now as something that most people do - I think it has more to do with the fact that people are increasingly busy and I think most of People appreciate the heads up peak. I do not think they are a necessity, but I think they may be regarded as a courtesy.

We printed at home. We found boxes of Nice to a page with a picture on the fireplace and printed it up. It was really cheap. Further we have received have been very enjoyable too. Our friends got married at the beach, they took a picture with their initials in the sand in a heart ... then transferred them to a site like shutterfly.com record and sent postcards date. My sister-in-law actually sent magnets with a photo of them (ironically, taken by photographer at our wedding) and the wedding date, location, etc.

Anyway - it's just a nice thing to do and there are tons of ways to do so at lower cost while adding a personal touch to them:)

Good luck!

I sent the Downtown Eastside save people out of the city. Just a little card saying "Save the date" Im getting married in July and the summer time is a time for crazy people!

If so, they are not necessary. It is useless to take on the expense. Maybe some people are simply used to obtain them, or they are confused with engagement ads, in which some couples list a date if they are already there.

Personally, I would not use them in these circumstances.

I sent them because we got married the weekend holiday, which is very busy in my state (Columbus Day, with fall foliage). It was impossible to get hotel rooms this weekend,

They are not necessary. If your guests are mainly local, and it is on a weekend at random, they are not necessary.

Is a personal decision. I mean, I have invited city. I called them. I also have a web page established through marriage http://www.theknot.com that people can see all the available information. Save the Date cards, in my opinion are a waste of money and a killer to the environment. I'm sending invites, so why do I need to send two? It is simply ridiculous. Do not send. If you do, you do the page

I do not think they are never 100% necessary. Just a nice touch, but if you are looking to reduce costs should be those of the first things to do. The only time I think they are even a minor at the moment are that you listed above other wise do not care.

I agree with you. Personally, when I'm the one I laugh. I even got married the weekend on Thanksgiving and has yet to send them. I do not want to own the second proposal. It's just a waste.

It is customary to send your "save the date cards" once you've confirmed your wedding date. It gives people the opportunity to plan their lives around the date of your wedding.

I am a wedding officiant and I also have a business card to date, as well as other types of maps and Stati marriage.
