How to Use Anointing Oil in Wicca The word "anoint" means to rub or massage in a liquid or a person on items such as candles, tools, supplies, etc. Anointing oils are used in Wicca for several purposes. Sometimes it is used in rituals to enhance communication and connection to deities during Sabbats or Esbats.
Sometimes it is used to calibrate the energies of the moon or the sun or other planets. The oils are also used to honor God or Goddess in ritual. In the tradition of candlemagick, oils are used to allow the candle (which may embody a human, animal or thing) to push forth our intentions more clearly in the universe.
Anointing oils are usually made of herbs, roots and flowers. There are many methods of extraction, but the easiest way to create an oil-based plants is to add dried herbs in oil, jojoba oil, olive or almond oil. We can not soak in oil for a few days or place it where the moon or the sun can also give its content.
Plants can be enchanted by their beauty and fragrance. Herbs have been used for magical purposes since ancient times. The herbal aromas transport us to another level of consciousness, another time or to a distant place in a moment. Use scented oils, candles or incense will usually focus on our lot to work harder.
Here are some examples of the anointing oil used in Wicca:
Mix 3 parts oil with 2 part Musk Patchouli and 1 part carnation body oil to create the Sabbath is supposed to promote communion with the deities present at the ceremony.
If you mix two parts with 1 part Myrrh incense, a part of Jamaica and a clove down, you can make a fantastic mix that can also be used in Sabbaths.
To harmonize with lunar energies and celebrate the full moon, using a mixture of 3 parts rose a, jasmine and 1 part oil of sandalwood party. Anoint the body before the Esbat while absorbing the powerful lunar energy.
Another version of the oil used in the full-moon ritual is 3 pieces of sandalwood mixed with 2 parts lemon and 1 part rose. This can be used in the bath of ceremonies for the evening or placed near the altar and used to anoint candles or body.
At ceremonies where the goddess is present, we can honor her with a version made with oil Goddess 3 parts Rose 2 parts of tuberose, 1 part lemon, 1 part palmarosa and an Amber game.
To honor the Horned God, we can use 2 parts Frankincense, 2 parts cinnamon, 1 part Bay, 1 part 1 part rosemary and musk. This oil can be used to anoint a candle representing the Horned God or to invoke God in rituals.
If a candle or a doll represents a person who needs to be cured, it can rub oil radiant health on the affected part. This oil is made by grinding angelica root, calendula, eucalyptus, lavender, juniper and rosemary and adding two parts jojoba oil, plus a portion of the castor oil.
