Magnetic Wreath Hook

We have a new house and the front door is aluminum (nonferrous) with insulation fill. The magnetic hooks do attract to aluminum. In addition, the peel and stick 3M hooks stay on because we do live in northern Ohio and its cooling mode. They are after a few days of cold and snow. Is it ill advised to opening the door to screw onto a hook?
