Light Tester

Posted on February 22, 2010.
Light TesterWhy a three phase emergency generator tester taken issue in the light of three lights?

These are points of emergency in a nursing home and rehabilitation. When the system is about the power of the normal street test points correctly, but when the generator is engaged and power is transferred to the tester lights making all three lights. Tested the hot and neutral voltage obtained separately and at a time. It is a three phase generator and the testing issue as well to all containers in the system. Thank you for any guidance it is late and I am perplexed.

1. Make sure the generator is constant related to your installation.
2. Make sure your generator neutral is connected to the building neutral.
3. Verify that the phase (hot) legs are connected to the construction of terminals in the hot leg.
4. With a voltmeter and with the generator running. Verify that the neutral ground you read the voltage to zero.
5. I am not sure of the effects of CGFI in this circuit. Note that
6. With a voltmeter and with the generator running. Make sure each outlet has only 120 volts. (Phase and neutral or phase and earth)
Good luck

An additional suggestion.
If the test is taken to the street all "is connected to the rest of the system of the generator and the utility will be in opposite phase.
This will show on a shared neutral.
Is the electrical wiring system rescue neutral connected to the
utility neutral everywhere, but the main service ground?

The generator must be connected in the configuration Y The neutral must be connected to the center of the Y. The three phases of the generator must be connected to one side of the 3-pole double-throw transfer switch and generator frame must be related to both neutral and ground power line input. The three phase input lines must be tied to the other side of the transfer switch.
