| MarketplaceJune Lake LoopPosted on February 9, 2010. Trout Fishing on Maligne Lake: Secrets Revealed ........ Maligne Lake secrets revealed ... ... ... ....
One of the most popular in Alberta, but unforgiving lakes is Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park. This lake has some of the best rainbow and brook trout in the country ... .. if you know the tricks. A rainbow of medium size weighs about 2 to 2.5 pounds of 4 to 5 pieces of consistency. Speckled trout fishing is incredible. Average to a pound and a half, you get 3-4 pieces of consistency and a fish was weighed at least 12 pounds and a half incredible. This was years ago, but the gentleman who caught this monster is still hovering around the ramp just waiting to tell his story and get out the old photo album. There are several ways to fish for these species of trout two, but we will focus on a particular technique and it is sinking behind the flight lines. Very rarely do you hear or read about trolling sinking lines, but this technique has proven to me to be the most productive fishing lakes mountain, no far as Lake Maligne. Maligne Lake is 5479 feet (1670m) elevation in the Canadian Rockies For example, it can be frozen right in the beginning of June The first three weeks a month after the ice and the last weeks of September is prime time if you want to see concrete action. Being so high in the mountains, you must be prepared for the climate. I fished blizzards in the first week of August and the days where one minute you're in fleece pants and rain gear and five minutes later, a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, then right back. I always recommend you dress in layers with rain gear on board. Then you're ready for anything. As there are restrictions on gas engine on the lake, you must obtain an electric motor. There a several places in town that rent this equipment and provide rental boats on many lakes in the park. You can rent canoes freight which are long, sturdy boats that cover the water much faster than aluminum boats available, but each will be the day. As this is a very large lake, you can cover a limited amount of water if you're just fishing day. There are campsites available along the lake if you want to camp for a night or two. If this happens, you will be in for a treat as it is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world further away from the dock you venture (this lake is 23 km long).
Establish:
First, get a fly rod. It should not be a fancy dress and you do not even know how to cast. Trolling is by far the most effective way to locate active fish on Lake Maligne because of its immense size. You can use anywhere from a weight of 5 to 7 weight rod. I always preferred a 9 ft 7 Weight implemented. It is strong enough to pull a variety of baits. Minnow lures are some of the largest manufacturers and if you use too light a rod to find your line to check your presentation can be quite the battle, even without the fish at the other end. There are a few reels that have certain advantages. Multipliers and the coil of large reels certainly useful. A multiplier to increase the recovery rate, so for each turn of the spool of your reel will turn twice or thrice. A large spool reel, the diameter of the coil is higher than the normal size and coil will increase the amount of the line acquired by rotating the coil. When trolling fly lines there are a lot of slack created by water resistance and the speed ratio the better if you're not used to fishing with this equipment. Line is important. The line, combined with control of the boat, is the most critical element in this technique. This does not mean you have to mark correct the line just right "type of flow line. There.
