Zombieland takes place in a post-apocalyptic America in which a zombie Apocalypse was triggered by a virulent form of mad cow disease to humans adapted.

Columbus College students (Jesse Eisenberg) is on the way to Columbus, Ohio to see if his parents are alive. He loses his car in an accident and encounters Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson). They travel together and when they stop at a grocery store, they meet two sisters, Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin). With a jerk, the sisters manage to steal their weapons and trucks. The two men walk and soon found a truck Hummer H2 with loaded weapons. They then meet the girls again, trying to take the Hummer, but Columbus offers a truce.

Columbus said Wichita is returning to Columbus, Ohio, but she misses it was burned to the ground and is overrun by zombies. He decided instead to stay with the group. Wichita Columbus says it takes in Little Rock Pacific Playland "in Los Angeles, a popular amusement park to be zombie-free.

On the way to the park, they pass through Hollywood and Tallahassee decides to take them to the home of Bill Murray's. Tallahassee and Wichita meet Murray himself, but uninfected, dressed in zombie make-up so that he can walk safely among those infected. In the Murray home cinema shows Columbus Little Rock Ghostbusters, when Murray comes in to scare Columbus and Little Rock as a joke, Columbus shoots and kills him, thinking he's a zombie.

After a burial asset, Tallahassee reveals that he lost his son to the zombies; Wichita begins developing feelings for Columbus. Afraid of commitment, leaving Wichita with Little Rock for the Pacific Playland. Columbus decided to go after Wichita, and he and sisters in Tallahassee continue a vehicle Murray.

Wichita and Little Rock arrive at Pacific Playland and turn on all the rides and lights, calling zombies nearby. A battle ensues, leaving the sisters trapped in a tower drop tower and short of ammunition. Tallahassee and Columbus arrived just as the sisters of ammunition is exhausted. Tallahassee managed to attract the majority now, and then deliberately crashes into a car game while Columbus goes after the sisters. Columbus saves girls and Thank you, Wichita reveals his real name (Krysta) to it. The two shared their first kiss. Tallahassee eliminates zombies left alone. Columbus comes to realize that this is the only family he needs, and leave all four Pacific Playland.
