Eduardo's Natural PizzaPosted on March 15, 2010. Baseball at its best: the Guerreros de Oaxaca in the Mexican League Alvin Starkman MA, LL.B. Where else in Mexico can you park two blocks from the ballpark, buy a pair of seats on the ground next to the dugout, eat a pizza-sized personal, beer, pastry, lollipop and tic-tacs, and entertainment for more than three hours on a warm evening Breezy, all for about $ 15 USD. The baseball season begins each of Mexico in March, with the team of Oaxaca (the Guerreros, being one of 16 two divisions in this league) playing its games at the Lic. Eduardo Vasconcelos stadium, a few steps from downtown. When my wife and I attended our first game, we were deeply impressed, not without noting some differences both interesting and fun as compared to the SkyDome (now known as Rogers Centre) to see Blue Jays Toronto. I preface my comments by stating that the league is equivalent to Triple A, meaning that the quality of play is very good, with a potential major leaguers and former team on ... In 2005, Guerrero had Felix Jose, pulp quality for older cardinals early 90s. I went to the park to buy tickets several days ahead of the game planned, we want to ensure that I am premium seats, only to be told that tickets go on sale at 16 hours on game days. To my surprise, the ticket wicket opened shortly before the hour. My wife asked for a pair of "best". When she returned to the car, I noticed that the 55 peso tickets did not appear to be in order, so I sent him back to inquire, and exchange the seats if necessary. I was right ... a seat was a row above the other. Who knew that when you ask to buy a pair of tickets, you must specify that you want the other side? Participants gave my wife a hard time, but finally relented and exchanged seats. We returned to the park for the 7:30 opening height, easily find a parking space in the street ... Toll $ 20 to park in the lot. But where exactly are our seats? We asked no fewer than four employees of the stage, we do land in a position to guide us to our seats, until finally someone took the effort to direct us appropriately. WOW. Not only next to the visitors (Mexico City) dugout, but covered in the unlikely event of a filet, and parallel to the Bull Pen. The game followed the pattern typical of AL, with designated hitter (Felix Jose for the Guerreros), and the announcer for the same job as his counterpart in the major leagues, not without prefacing the name of each dough to come and position with an advertisement for one of the numerous sponsors whose presence is front and center, both on the players uniforms and the domain walls. The scoreboard provided no surprises, but it took a while to understand some of the positions of the players by merely seeing the letter designations ... no problem with SS, 1B, 2B and 3B. But what about JI, CF and JD? I thought I had by Pat with the center fielder, but the other two threw me off. Then the announcer introduced the right fielder, the Jardinero Derecho (JD), which literally means "Law Gardener." It was logical, after a while as it tends to the grass in right field ... but why Centre Fielder's position not suited to even the Mexican style of designation? Everything fell into place in a short time, each player having a number on his jersey, but Volkswagen was the only name on the back . The cheerleaders ten a pleasant surprise, does an admirable job, but neither choreographed nor synchronized as well as the NFL or the NBA. But what fun to see these young women to approximate with a bit of flesh on the body, anorexic instead of air as we got used to seeing and accepting with regret the north.
