One of the wedding gifts the most remarkable and beautiful I've ever seen was created by one of my sister's wedding the other sister. It builds a wedding cake virgin white towels and decorated with ribbons, held in place with pearl pins, and hid a cd in one layer and not all that was necessary. The "cake" is such a work of art he stole the spotlight from the real cake! Everyone wanted to know who did, how long it took, etc., and no one with a camera passed up a chance to preview it.
Creating a towel cake can be as simple or as complicated as you need it. It is easy to make it unique with your own special touches and add a personal touch that will make an unforgettable moment of your wedding or shower.
It's easy to make and the bride will love the personal touch! The colors can be coordinated to go with the wedding theme and colors.
Step 1. Roll Towels
Fold each towel in half lengthwise twice. Start at one end and roll the towels together. Set aside. Repeat this procedure with the wipes. Fold each bath towel in half lengthwise and repeat the folding until the width of the pad is about 6 ". Roll the two towels together in the same manner as towels. You should now have three layers of cake.
Step 2. Assembling the Layers
I used large rubber bands to hold each layer and to facilitate handling. Choose to decorate a ribbon colors to coordinate with the towels or wedding colors. My niece had requested purple towels so I selected a wide white ribbon adorned with pearls. Cut the ribbon in 60 ", 40" and 30 "lengths. Attach chunk around Towel layer and repeat for the other two cake layers. Once finished, stack the cake layers starting with the most wide at the bottom layer. I used pins to hold the small layers in place. If you do use pins try to place the tags on the towels not the towels themselves.
Step 3.
This is the fun part! Use your imagination and decorate with silk flowers, fall leaves or wedding bells. I placed the cake on a cake plate for presentation feet.

A towel cake is a unique and creative way to give a gift for a wedding shower or housewarming gift. I use pattern matching towels, hand towels and washcloths for the cake towels. There will be 2 to 30 x 54 towels, 4-16 X 26 towel "and 3-12 x 12 wipes. For a romantic theme, I use products such as lotions, bubble bath, incense, bath beads and other items. For a bath kitchen theme, I use wooden spoons, wire whisks, spatulas and other utensils. The colors vary and can be specified by the customer. The ribbons used can be specified to be a wedding theme, otherwise the ribbons will be color coordinated to the color of the towels used. The towel cake photo is a theme chocolate cake.
