Chelsea Flower ShowChelsea Flower Show and Dinner at Restaurant Gordan Ramsey

We thought you might be interested in some facts about the Chelsea Flower Show. Maybe something to ponder as you spend a relaxed evening of wonderful conversation at the restaurant Gordon Ramsey.

Chelsea Flower · The show is held only five days each year

aec The show dates back to 1852, even if it offers its current grounds at Chelsea, and was renamed in 1913.

Å’ It was originally called "The Royal Horticultural Society's Spring Show" - quite a mouthful! One wonders if people that shorthand for, or even use an acronym of some sort (although the sibilant "The RHSSS "does not exactly come out of the language, and put one in mind of the escapades of Harry Potter)

aec Each year, something on the order of 157,000 people attend (which is more than the population of many English cities combined!) - In fact, its popularity is the reason why the show has been extended by four days to 5 2005

aec For those of us who missed it, there is considerable coverage of the BBC, and even an official DVD

· As expected, the royal family arrive to attend a preview of the show, although they are allowed to take one of the flowers is questionable

· In addition the same way as fashion, entertainment is an important indicator of trends in the world of horticulture, for those of you thinking about the design of new exotic flora, you'd better take care of make sure you're either in the trend, or so bold!
